I'm from the JW era of 1975 was date for Armageddon. We were told to not go to college and even drop out of High school and take GED so we could become Pioneers. I was disfellowshipped in 1978. By 1982 the society put out article stating even family could not speak to disfellowshipped family members. It been 32 years since my mother and sister have spoken to me. Difficult at first but I rarely think about them. I have no desire to be associated with my bio family or members of JW.Product details

This is Brenda's best work yet. Not only does she tell her story in a compelling way but she has the rare ability as an author to bring the characters to life in your mind's eye. I highly recommend this book.
Very interesting look into a highly religious sect. It gives an outsider a view of how restrictive the JW lifestyle is and how difficult it is to be an individual or break away from the group. Kudos to Brenda for being able to do both and having the strength to write about her struggles. A highly recommended read.
This book is amazing!!! A great read, anything Brenda writes is time well spent!
Grew up a Jehovah's Witness as well. She doesn't go into what the JW's believe so much as how hard it can be growing up and marrying within the JW faith. You keep turning the pages and shaking your head in disbelief.
Hope. This book gives many the courage to take control of their lives. Defines what true Christian love looks like. For those of us who have suffered abuse, a voice that eloquently expresses what it feels like when our nearest and dearest fail us. A must read for all.
I could relate because I grew up in this religion and left when I was an adult. It was extremely accurate.
Brenda has written about her experiences in being raised a JW up to the end and waking up during difficult time of moving on without the JWs. Her writing is very clear and easy to follow. The story is to the point and as honest as you can get. At the end of the book she gives excellent advice on the recovery process in her words that is reassuring. I want to thank Brenda for sharing her story with all of us.
